Vasiappara Trek - Chinnar - Sridhar & Saravanan

We started off on a trek to vasyappara at the chinnar wildlife sanctuary on the munnar road near udumalpet.
The day was hot and was an arduous climb of 3 hours.

We had started from coimbatore at 6.15 and the trek from chinnar at 9.00.
The sun bore down, but just within 10 minutes we came acroos a good treetop hut and took some pictures.

We treaded on uphill via Champakkad, the small tribal hamlet and reached Vasiappara at about 12.30. A good 3 hour trek with only two small breathers in between.

The mud hut is situated on a cliff edge with a commanding view of the plains for about 5 kms long.
No words or pictures can really describe the setting.

There is no water and has to be carried. there is a toilet and bathroom but with no water supply.
we had remembered to carry a 5 litre can and the guide made us some black tea. It was great to sip tea with the verandah on a cane chair with binoculars, only to spot a elephant herd with a calf, down in the valley below.

Had  a nice refreshing bath in the river near the champakkad settlement and started back to coimbatore at 6.30. It was a good one day trek and i would recommend any avid trekker to take this vasiappara trek.

As the name Vasiappara  goes, the place really mesmerises us with the setting and the opportunity for wildlife viewing with the vantage of being on top of the animal trails.
